Girls and boys, of fair complexion living in poor hygienic
conditions are prone to develop this defect. Early treatment can
prevent the condition from becoming chronic.
Prevention and Precautions
The
best treatment is to clear the crusts with mild fomentation and proper
medicines. Clean the eye lashes 2-3 times a day. The condition becomes
worse after taking fried or spicy food. Hence avoid it.
Early stage
of conjunctivitis and nasal problems should be properly treated.
Patients suffering from measles should not be exposed to dust, smoke
and strong light to avoid complications of blepharitis.
Conjunctivitis
It
is inflammation of the conjunctiva which makes the eyes red. It is more
marked in the fornix layer and fades towards the cornea. Mild itching
and a sandy sensation is felt in the eyelids. At times there is hot
sensation.Glare is felt while moving- in the sun.
Prevention and Precautions
The
condition is worsened by exposure to smoke, strong wind, or high
intensity flame (e.g. welding flame). Any foreign body on the
Conjunctiva should be removed with great care. Flu can worsen the
infection. Give complete rest to the eye. Handkerchiefs, towels and
fingers should be kept clean. Mild saline lotion or rose water may be
used for cleaning the eyes.
